Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...

Today we met my family in Park City for what was initially supposed to be a "Girl's Day" (it turns out my father and my husband share a loathing of being abandoned by their women, so they ended up tagging along). My sister Alysha leaves for the MTC on Wednesday, so we had to have one last shebang before she takes off for 18 months. I learned today that designated "Girl's Days" must be mandated. Here's why:

01) Pedicures. For whatever reason, we couldn't manage to find a spa in Park City that could take all four of us at the same time, so we divided and conquered. When I arrived at my very first official spa treatment, was escorted to the aptly named "Relaxation Room", where I plopped down on the most comfortable squishy couch that my booty has ever had the pleasure to sink into (seriously, it is a miracle I even got up). Did I mention there was a large rack brimming with all of my favorite trashy magazines (as in Allure, Elle, Self, People... just to clarify) within arm's reach? Heaven. Chilled water with sliced cucumber? Yes, thank you. Just as I was about to settle forever in my new found Jessica Sanctuary, I was summoned by my "pampering professional" for my pedicure. Warm foot soak...check. Parafin dip...check. Massage with cucumber body lotion...check. Exfoliating file...check. I have found my new (extremely expensive) hobby, and my husband has informed me that he does not yet have the funds to provide for my new lifestyle, so any donations would be appreciated :) Interestingly enough, I HATE feet. Like, DESPISE them. I would rather watch all three Lord of the Rings movies back to back (yes, for me this would be punishment) than be touched by somebody's tootsies, yet I have discovered that my feet need lots of lovin'. (Also ironic: I married a man with toes as long as my fingers. Seriously.)

02) Carbs. And lots of 'em. We congregated at Red Rock to compare our newly fabulous feet, and chowed down on pizza, caprese sandwiches, pork pitas... we had to order everything so that we could taste everything. Simple logic. More simple logic: ordering and eating everything on the menu makes it difficult to button pants the next day.

03) Shopping. I love the outlets in Park City. If I had a billion dollars, I would buy my own Banana Republic to serve as my closet. Unfortunately, I don't have a billion dollars, so I rely on the Banana outlet store to come to my rescue.

04) Movies. In honor of Alysha's "old man crush", aka Harrison Ford, we went to see Indiana Jones. More entertaining than the movie: driving Reece crazy by asking questions throughout the entire thing, with the help of my two sisters.

Thanks to Alysha, my favorite Girl's Day partner in crime, for orchestrating this beautiful day. I don't know what I will do without you for 18 months. Maybe drown my sorrows with another pedicure....

What a fun day!I love Alysha. I had no idea she was headed out a mission. She'll be so great. Tell her hi for me!

I still haven't seen the last LOTR movie, much to the dismay of my friend Mark. He's forced me to watch the other two.

Sigh. I almost died listening to your spa experience. Good food, shopping, pedicures...there is nothing better! Also, Reece's feet. Amen.

Also, exercise. I'm with ya. Hate it / love it, have to do it. Wait until you're pregnant and can barely walk before you hit your heart rate, and continue to get larger by the day...so very odd.
