Seafair 2012...

Microsoft helped end our Seattle summer with a bang by chartering a boat on Lake Washington over Seafair Weekend for its interns and their significant others.

Seafair = Seattle's biggest hoorah.

The city starts celebrating a month before the party actually begins.
Festivities include a marathon, ship tours, air shows, hydroplane races, a huge parade and countless other shenanigans all across the Puget Sound.
And there are sailors.
Everywhere.

The biggest event by far is the Blue Angels show.
Think Top Gun, in real life.

During the show, the lake becomes a giant boat parking lot.
It's crazy, crazy, crazy.

Even a killer whale showed up to watch the show.
Or something like that...

The Blue Angels are insane.
I've never seen anything like this in my entire life.

I'm certain I lost a little bit of hearing every time one of the planes would fly over our boat.
Directly over our boat.

Every time those things dove, twisted, flipped and shot upward, my stomach dropped.
Clearly, I'm not cut out to be a Goose or a Maverick.

Speaking of those two, our captain was kind enough to enhance our experience by blasting the "Top Gun" soundtrack.
I think he'd must have gotten his hands on the leftovers from the open bar, but humming along to "Danger Zone" made the whole shindig that much more legit.

We had a fabulous time with the other interns -- all of whom became close friends to our little family.
 Good, good people.

Bucket list item conquered.

Also, it was only appropriate that we sail by Bill Gates's compound on Mercer Island.
I look forward to being his neighbor in five years... because we'll be squatting in a tent just off his property.

Holy. Guacamole.
This picture does not do it justice.
