City stroll...

After we'd had our fill of the festival and the very crowded Seattle Center, we headed downtown toward the market.
I love walking around a new city.
It really is the best way to make it your own.

And since tasting a city is equally as important as exploring its streets, we stopped for a cupcake  at one of the millions of bakeries lining 4th Avenue.

Lola -- no shocker here -- immediately requested the hot pink cupcake and was crushed to find she couldn't have it once the lady behind the counter informed her parents it was filled with alcohol.
How do you explain that to a two-year-old?

But the sprinkles won her over in the end, and we had a happy and messy toddler once again.

Both of our kids were jumping out of their seats when we approached this gem...

A very cruel trick by a very cruel artist.
Even I walked away feeling empty after passing a giant, inedible popcicle.
Who wouldn't?

I love, love, love the architecture in Seattle.
It's a very modern city with a lot of historical flair.
And oh the trees!
Green as far as the eye can see.

We walked through Belltown, down to the market, over to Pioneer Square and finally to the industrial district to cheer on the Mariners.

And now on to the next post...
