Aquaphiles...

We had some really fantastic weather during our stay in Newport, so pool time was maximized.

James took his very first plunge into the water, and in true James fashion, was a great sport about it all -- even though I sensed he wasn't loving it.

The highlight of our swimming experience was most definitely the family of ducks that had taken up residence in our pool.

Every morning we'd walk down to bid them hello.

They were even kind enough to let us splash along with them, probably because James is fluent in duck .

That boy quacked and quacked and quacked until I was nervous he'd leave us to join his real species.

 BONUS: Since we are far too poor to let our kids swim with dolphins, we now have these pictures to prove we presented them with a suitable alternative.

And I'm going to pretend like the little brown flakes at the bottom of the pool were bark from the landscaping, and not gifts from the sunbathing birds.
