Roasted...

Provo Canyon is downright enchanting in the fall.
So is the thought of devouring s'mores made with reese's peanut butter cups.

So when our friends Justin and Lana invited us to light a fire at Nunn's Park and roast stuff with them, we couldn't say no.

The colors up the canyon are vibrant and ridiculously picturesque.
Sometimes I forget how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place.

Lola and Reece spent the bulk of the evening throwing rocks into the river.
There's something so cathartic about those ripples.

The setting made our meal of turkey dogs and potato salad seem gourmet.

The fire left Lola both fascinated and terrified.
She preferred to watch from her little chair while stuffing as many marshmallows into her mouth as possible.

James ate his dinner, then burrowed his little face into his blankets to escape the smoke and fell fast asleep.

It wouldn't be a true bonfire without s'mores, and holy guacamole, when you put a roasted marshmallow and a slightly melted peanut butter cup on a graham cracker, the world seems just that much closer to perfection.

I'll probably never be able to get the smell of campfire funk out of our clothes.
But you know what?
It was totally worth it.
