In attempt to fight of the winter chill, we got together with some friends for a soup bar extravaganza.
Each couple brought their favorite homemade soup to sample, and you can bet I ate a hefty bowl of each offering.
We warmed our bones by feasting on homemade chicken lime tortilla, carrot ginger, potato broccoli and spicy chicken rice.
But alas, I am a carb girl.
Thank heavens for breadsticks and cornbread.
And though the soups were nothing short of delicious, in the end, the desserts were what did us all in.
It pays to have friends who also happen to be fantastic cooks.
Let's just say I'm not exactly looking forward to the weigh-in portion at my doctor visit tomorrow morning.
Soup night may become a tradition round these parts.
Because good food mixed with great company can be the perfect cure for the Utah winter blues.

What a small world! Your last picture is of my sister-in-law and her husband (Jillian & Bruce). They are good friends to have :-)
Yum! That all looks delicious!!! I am in love with soup this winter! Can you send along the recipe for the lime chicken tortilla per favore?
Seriously, Jess, your blog makes me hungry much more often than is really necessary...is that a chocolate cake with toffee bits? Drool...
