Lola's First Christmas: Part 1...

Our first Christmas as parents was a smashing success, despite the fact our kid had no idea what was going on or why everyone tried to get her to rip open the wrapping paper when all she wanted to do was suck on it.

We kicked off the festivities with a Christmas Eve dinner/party at Grandma and Grandpa Ivins' house. After stuffing ourselves with panini, guacamole and treats of every kind, we read the traditional Christmas story (somehow Reece and his brothers found a way to make Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree slightly scandalous) and exchanged gifts.

We've learned that one of the best things about having a kid is the ease that comes when picking out gifts for our parents. Anything Lola-related is fair game.

Reece's favorite gift of the year: a scarf, designed and created by his sister Dana. He would wear it to bed if I let him.

Lola's first gift was a great framed birth announcement from her Auntie Di and Uncle Redd. Since we dropped the ball with the whole birth announcement thing, they decided to pick up our slack.

Since Santa comes twice after you get married, we celebrated Christmas morning a few hours early.

She humored us for about 10 minutes, and then threw in the towel.

Thanks to the Ivins for a lovely Christmas Eve, and for spoiling us rotten.
