Caving In...

So I finally gave in to society's demands and read this "hot" series:

I won't go too in depth with my analysis (for fear of being seriously harmed by hard-core fans), but overall I enjoyed the read...though lacking in any serious thought-provoking content :)

Now on to my second point. If you wanted to make a successful film out of a very succesful literary series (one that revolves around an supposedly unbelievably gorgeous vampire), why in the name of all that is good would you cast this guy?:

He looks like a rapist. He also ruined the character of Cedric Diggory (in Harry Potter) for me. Who is this guy, and why does he keep getting these heartthrob roles? Any thoughts?

I completely agree with you on the overall series. I've had friends ridiculously obsessed...and sadly (I guess) I don't fit in that club. I found them to be enjoyable..but not ridiculously enjoyable. And Yes to the wedding dresses to Atlantic..

THANK YOU! I'm so glad that someone has a pair of eyes and can see that he is NOT CUTE. I thought I was the only one...all I can say is that he better have some mad on screen charisma to make up for his ugliness so the movie isn't ruined.

AMEN! I think most of the characters have been badly cast, personally. I also recently gave in and read the Twilight series. I thought Edward was so supposed to be insanely beautiful? This guy just looks like a stupid and unattractive goth kid.
So are you a Jacob girl or an Edward girl? (I'm all about Jacob. Edward is the flattest character.) And don't you just HATE Bella? I do. If it wasn't for the fact that she sucks, and ALL of the AWFUL SAPPINESS, these books would have been 100% better.

So I thoroughly enjoy these books, in spite of their lack of depth, but I totally agree with you on the character choice for Edward. I have a few friends who are also avid fans, and they all agree. Blah.

Augh! I totally agree! The look on his eyes is like he is going to take all of the women and children hostage and suck their blood. I thought he was a nice vampire! I am intrigued to see the movie though...and see how they portray him.

Oh my gosh, Jessica... I can't believe you don't think he's sexy at all!! I didn't even know you wrote this last night--ha-- go see what I wrote today. If you watch the trailer, maybe you will understand better why he seems perfect for the role. Why am I the only one who finds Robert Pattinson good looking?? So sad :(

Um...did you read my blog about this book?? The title is actually a warning for all my fanatical friends. I wasn't such a fan of Stephanie Meyer. J.K. Rowling beats her out 50 times over anyday in my book.

Amen. Apparently, he contacted the director and she was very underwhelmed with his looks. (Duh.) But he came to LA and did an audition for her with the girl who plays Bella, and suddenly the director was all excited. All I have to say is this: he had better be DARN good to get me to look past how creepy looking he is!

So I read them when I first came home from the mish... I loved them then, but then I read some other stuff (ie Harry Potter, Jane Austen etc) and realized that maybe they weren't as great as I thought they were. It's like cotton candy...it looks good on conception, but but there's not much substance to it once you start...no one who's hard core into this series send me hate vibes or anything...
