Help, help, help...

I just tried to view my blog and it told me the blog no longer existed.
My heart stopped and I started to sob.

Thankfully, it's back.
But I'm still shaken.

I don't write in a journal, so this is pretty much the closest thing I've got.
I would be devastated if I lost it.

And soooooo, dear blog friends, do you have any tips for backing up a blog?  Or at least saving it in another place?

Let's face it, the blog book idea is awesome but I probably won't get around to it anytime soon.

So please, share your wisdom.
This panicked girl would be eternally grateful (and maybe even send you a box of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies).

Drama girl out.

I would just copy and paste each post into word and save it there and then back that up. Otherwise, no idea. You really should though, this is such a great memory book. :) Love you!

It's not as easy as you might think. The best way that I know of to do it (at least that I've found so far) is http://www.httrack.com/ It is a program that downloads a website in its entirety to the hard-drive and maintains all the links. I did it for our blog just to make sure it would work for you, and it everything worked great. The download just takes a while.

There are other programs that do similar things, but this one is free and worked. I will admit to being a computer geek, so it may not be as easy for everyone.

Get it printed! I'm going to have a little book printed from our blog every year... or such is my hope.

The only site I can think of right now is blurb, which I'm sure isn't the cheapest. But their books are nice.

Making a blog book is sooooo easy. And, then you have a back up on your computer and a copy in print. I use blurb and have loved it!

You can "export" your blog which in turn you can "import" it only for blogspot. I did that when I was transitioning between blogs.

For the record, I change my vote to the export option for ease of use. However, the program I recommended will work for any website, if you ever need to do that.

Via the dashboard and settings somewhere you can export your entire blog to your desktop. You could then save it on an external harddrive or use that to make certain or all posts into a blog book. There are lots of online sites that will make a book for you. Good luck!

Looks like you've got the tech issues covered, and I'm glad to see that. It would horrify me if I thought I lost any of my precious memories on-line or off. So, since that's all fixed, could you please post or send me the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe when you get a chance? I had no hope of winning a box full...I'm just not that tech savvy...

Probably you'll be happy with exporting....but if you want something online and free and easy.....try: http://blogbackupr.com/. Just another option.
