Memorial Day Memories: Part Two...

Reece and I rarely have a day off at the same time, so we tried to make the most of it today.

We started off the holiday with a trip up to Park City to meet Grandma and Grandpa.  They treated us to sushi.  Lola wasn't crazy about the rice, but she loved the chopsticks.

Thanks to the grandparents, my kid has developed a love for miso soup.  Yet another food I can't seem to find on that list from my pediatrician.

Next stop: the outlets, where Lola admired the kitties and puppies through the window of the animal shelter.  Apparently the cats get to run around uncaged on holidays.

The child was in heaven.

We ditched the shopping crowds to crash the pool at Marriott Mountainside, where Lola, once again, expressed her deep hatred of water.  This pool party we are planning for her first birthday could end up being a disaster.

After a lovely afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa, we headed back down into the city for a barbecue with some of our favorite friends.

There must be something in the water in our neighborhood, because all of us have had baby girls in the last year or so.

This one's for you, Hollie.

We had a lovely time, eating and chatting and laughing and such.

The girls were fascinated when AJ showed them a new hand gesture.  Bad AJ. (I believe he was actually just trying to get them to look at the camera, but I couldn't resist)

Reece and I have a very serious problem.  Anytime we go to parties, we always manage to (unintentionally) dress alike.  Reece swears he is always dressed before me, so maybe I subconsciously aspire to be one of those creepy families with the matching sweater vests.

Either that, or I like to drive my husband crazy.

All in all, it was a fantastic holiday.  We really can't wait for the next one.

I love the picture where Lola is shoving the other baby out of the way. It reminds me of her mother and how she used to shove me out of the way when she sang along to "Somewhere Out There". :)
